Nu-Bond
Description:

Nu-Bond is a carboxylated styrene/butadiene copolymer latex containing a non-staining antioxidant. It has been used extensively in the bulding industry over the last 20 years as an admixture for cement and concrete applications, including repair, renovation, and surfacing of floors and concrete surfaces, and bonding generally. Nu-Bond is not affected by moisture or wet conditions. Nu-Bond is formulated as an undercoat for glossy or poor condition roof tiles prior to top coating with Colourfast, NuFlex, or TileFlex. Nu-Bond is also recommended as an admixture in bedding and pointing mortar, repair mortars, and cementitious mixes to obtain substantially increased adhesion, flexibility, tensile and compressive strengths.

  Typical Properties:
  Appearance: Opaque white viscous liquid
  Total Solids: 47%
  pH: 11.0
  Specific Gravity: 1.01
  Water Solubility Soluble
Min Film Forming Temp: 12 Degrees celsius
Min Film Thickness: 180 microns (1 coat)
  Application Rate:

Tiles: 1 coat @ 4 m2 per litre

Pointing & Bebbing 10% solution
  Applications:

Nu-Bond is used in the building industry for a variety of applications including adhesives, undercoat primers, and cement admixtures.

As a roof tile, concrete and masonry coating, Nu-Bond seals and bonds to rough, unstable, and porous surfaces for overcoating with Colourfast, NuFlex, or TileFlex. Because of the high resin solids content this coating provides maximum dry film build on rough surfaces improving top coat performance to guarantee waterproofing.

Features:

Nu-Bond is extensively used as an additive to cement mortar and concrete involved in the repair, renovation, and waterproofing of old concrete.

Nu-bond has the significant advantage over other PVA bonders because it is not adversely affected in wet conditions and is suitable for exterior use. Nu-Bond is a stable, non-yellowing latex which retains both flexibility and strength. Nu-Bond provides excellent protection against bacteria and mould on most surfaces.

  Benefits:

  • IMPROVED ADHESION TO A WIDE RANGE OF SUBSTRATES
  • MIXES MAY BE APPLIED IN THINNER SECTIONS
  • EXCELLENT RESISTANCE TO WATER AND WATER VAPOUR
  • HIGH LEVEL OF RESISTANCE TO SALT PERMEATION
  • IMPROVED STRENGTH AND FLEXIBILITY
  • REDUCED SURFACE DUSTING OF CONCRETE
  • IMPROVED RESISTANCE TO MANY CHEMICALS
  • REDUCED WATER/CEMENT RATIO FOR EQUIVALENT WORKABILITY
  Typical Applications:
  • Primer coat for concrete roof tiles
  • Patching and repairing of concrete
  • Industrial floor screening and topping
  • Additive with cement as part of a primer
  • Additive to a rendering mix to improve water resistance

  Warnings:
Applying Nu-Bond as a tile coating or coating uncured tile pointing in very low temperaturesmay cause adhesion problems.
The coating must be fully cured and dry before overcoating.
DO NOT use on a tile with a powdery oxidised surface. (refer NuPrime)
