Excellent protection for Concrete, Masonry and Metal Surfaces

EPiC Epoxy 500 is a high build, two pack floor coating which provides excellent protection for Concrete, Masonry and metal surfaces with proven durability and performance. The coating provides excellent hardness and scuff resistance, designed for a wide variety of applications including commercial and industrial floors and walls.

Epoxy 500 is suitable for INTERIOR USE ONLY as early loss of gloss and surface chalking are likely due to UV damage.

Typical Uses

Nutech Epoxy 500 provides excellent protection against a range of corrosives including:

  • Petrol
  • Oils
  • Fatty Oils
  • Alkali
  • Acids
  • Efflorescence

Nutech Epoxy 500 also has the following industrial qualities:

  • Has a high resistance to corrosion and abrasion
  • It is impervious to water and moisture
  • Can be fully submerged under water making it ideal for pools, ponds and interior wet areas
  • Epoxy 500 is also rated for food stuffs and can be used in a variety of areas including Restaurants, Hospitals and Supermarkets
  • High build protective primer for metal surfaces but must be top coated using EPiC PolyCryl for exterior use.

EPiC Epoxy 500 is used for a variety of applications where traditional floor paints, paving paint, epoxy coatings and furniture finishes are used. It has excellent durability, high resistance to solvents, corrosion and abrasion after full curing is achieved. Epoxy 500 is highly petrol resistant and suitable for high traffic areas and vehicle repair workshops. Surfaces sealed with Epoxy 500 can be easily cleaned and will resist bacteria growth.

Good quality Brush and Roller Sleeve
Spray application will depend on the type of finish required.
DO NOT store mixed product in spray equipment to avoid damage.

Surface Preparation

All surfaces must be free from Rust, Oil, Grease, and other surface contamination.

  • New concrete must have a pH level less than 10 and have had at least 28 days to cure.
  • New and old concrete should be Acid Etched using 1 Part Hydrochloric Acid or Nu EcoSafe Concrete Etch to 10 parts water.
  • High pressure water blast area (> 2000 psi) and allow to completely dry.
  • Painted concrete in poor condition should be stripped using our Nu EcoSafe range of paint strippers and acid etched before application.

Mixing Ratio

3 Parts A to 1 Part B.

After drill mixing leave to stand for 10 minutes before using to allow full activation. Stirring with a stick by hand is inadequate.

Pot Life

4-5 hours.
DO NOT use after Pot Life has expired.

Bare Concrete & Masonry Surfaces

Thin 20% –25% for first coat application to ensure penetration and adhesion. Dilute with EPiC Epoxy 500 thinners.

Dry and Re-coat Times

Touch Dry

4 - 5 hours @ 25°C

Re-coat

After 5 hours but within 24 hours. If recoating after 7 days, the surfaces must be abraded.

Safety Precautions

Wear suitable Protective Clothing, Gloves and a suitable Respirator for spray application. Make sure there is good Air Flow and ventilation before applying this product.

Slip Hazard

Sealing of smooth and sloping concrete surfaces will reduce pedestrian and vehicle safety. For greater slip reduction a Coarse or Fine 2PK Anti Slip can be sprinkled on the wet freshly applied surface of the first coat and encapsulated with a subsequent coat of EPiC Epoxy 500. Testing is recommended before proceeding to ensure that a potential slip hazard is avoided. Refer to your Nutech specialist for alternative recommendations on steep, smooth surfaces.

Warnings

  • Very cold weather may retard curing times leaving a tacky surface for 3 – 4 days
  • Heating the room will accelerate curing after application
  • Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid naked flames for at least 48 hours
  • EPiC Epoxy 500 is not recommended for exterior use, as early loss of gloss and surface chalking is likely due to UV damage
  • EPiC Epoxy 500 hardener may be irritating to the skin and suitable safety precautions must be taken during handling and application
  • Ensure adequate ventilation if applying sealer in enclosed spaces
  • Avoid contact with naked flames, sparks, pilot lights and other sources of ignition
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin
